BBC Languages Email Club
This club was established to send foreign language teachers, tutors, trainers and lecturers regular free e-mail updates on BBC language courses, TV programmes, internet activity, special offers, competitions plus an information service on the language world in general - to encourage both the exchange of views and sharing of ideas. The prime objective of COTA Australia is to promote, improve and protect the circumstances and wellbeing of older people in Australia. Their work draws on views of today’s seniors and on concerns for future generations of Australians.

Have your say....... Downsizing Amongst Older Australians Have you downsized, or have you thought about it? If so, we want to hear from you! Our research team at City Futures (UNSW) wants to find out why some people move in later life and how these moves change peoples’ lives. By filling out our survey online, you will help us find out who moves in later life, where they move to, and the decisions behind these moves. Your opinions will inform governments and the housing industry about the housing needs of older Australians and enhance their long-term wellbeing. Who should participate? If you have moved home since turning 50, we would like to hear from you. You can find a copy of our survey online at: www.cityfutures.net.au This survey is open from 1 August 2011 until 31 October 2011. This is an Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute-funded project. UNSW FBE HREAP approval no. 115055.

A research program developing internet-delivered education and treatment courses targeting symptoms of anxiety, depression, and pain. Our aim is to build and evaluate courses which facilitate quality of life, while teaching practical skills that help people to stay well. In the last four years we have completed 24 clinical trials with more than 1600 Australian adults. We have recently partnered with beyondblue to build online courses for older adults. We have just completed two pilot studies, targeting symptoms of anxiety and depression, with very encouraging results. In late August we will be running larger clinical trials of similar courses. In mid 2012 these courses will then become available from our website for the public, but first we need to carefully evaluate them. My team and I believe these courses have enormous potential for helping people overcome disabling symptoms, and then staying well.
