I am the primary carer for my frail mother who at nearly 100 needs full time care now. Being able to access a service like this is one way to feel less isolated from the world outside. I am indeed much blessed.

Very interesting course, so much feed back from both tutor and other students; learnt to really use my brain better. I liked being able to do the writing in my time without any pressure it’s great to learn over the Internet as I live a fair way from a TAFE plus being on a pension finances limits me.

I enjoyed the course immensely, and am sorry it has finished. I learned so much and am now going to finish the children’s book I started three years ago. I also made a new friend, actually two new friends. I will do another course now. The results were so encouraging.

My tutor really helped me. I’m really sad that the course has finished. I didn’t really know what kind of a writer I was. The exercises adapted so well with what I wanted to achieve.

Knowing that someone will read one’s work helps to target the mind. The support from the tutor was very good. She is obviously a master diplomat.

I really enjoyed this course. Jenny was very helpful with her comments. I would like a more advanced course, starting where we left off with using creative titles etc. from newspapers to spark ideas. There is never an end to what a writer can learn.

An excellent introduction to the pleasures and challenges of writing. Jenny is a caring and supportive tutor. Her constructive comments on written activities, and her positive approach in general, made taking the course a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

The first thing that I want to say is that the course has been useful to me and therefore, from my point of view, it has been successful as it is.

This is not a three year degree. It therefore has limitations on what it wants to achieve. And again, from that point of view, I think it has been successful.

There is something that I hear constantly. 'Oh, I wish that I had asked my mother/father while they were alive..........' And I often find people who say to me that they would very much like to do what I am doing but............and who might be encouraged to actually do it, by doing a course through the U3A.

I really enjoyed this course. Both Course Leaders were available for advice and guidance - without their encouragement I probably would have put off writing my family history for ever.
