Very inspirational and interesting background reading material to keep me well occupied for quite some time! I enjoyed seeing what other students were choosing to write about and their formats- especially impressed that someone went into verse!

It was interesting to be part of a group with participants from the other side of the world. I think I would have liked to have had more interaction with them but that was probably my fault for not responding to their materials enough. Other members of my local U3A are interested in my experiences.

The course was excellent. The material was well presented and easy to understand. The tutors were very professional and thorough. Both Peter and Brenda gave extensive replies which must have taken a lot of time and certainly commitment. I found the course useful for what I want to do.

I began writing my family history about 10 years ago, and became bogged down - too much data. This course opened the door for me again. I intend to self-publish as it is intended for family and friends, but am interested in ‘publishing’ in the future.

I really enjoy writing, (Creative Writing, U3A) playing the piano (classical), painting (watercolour) and living. Distance and the ‘wet’ seasons were a problem but U3A and technology have given me contact with the ‘outside world’.

The course gave practical advice about organising oneself to work. Our tutor was always on the ball quick with helpful criticism and encouragement. I had not worked with a group before and found their encouragement confidence building and very rewarding. Full marks

The course helped me to clarify my ideas. Peter’s comments were always constructive and helpful. I think I will go on to produce a modest volume for family consumption, which I would not have contemplated without this course.

I have found it good to combine this course with Autobiography and Journalling which I did first. The two courses complement each other very well. Both were stimulating and enjoyable.
