I enjoyed the course and found a lot of great websites but some specific direction to individual topics on websites would have prevented going through a lot of repetitive stuff. Thanks, tutors, for your work!

This is my second U3A course, having just finished the Biography and Journalling course. I will probably be working on it for the rest of my life; it's so fascinating. I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and was weaned on local Roman history and art. In 1993 and 1995, my husband and I took a camper-van and toured around all the Roman sights, Wales, York, Hadrain's Wall, (an old friend form childhood!) My husband took hundreds of photos and we did miles of walking. Now it's going into a book; but don't hold your breath waiting for it to be published.

Excellent introduction to The Romans with plenty of access to various websites that made it possible to delve more deeply. Text very readable and easy to understand. I found the Brittanica a very good complement to the Notes, and downloaded many many pages during a 'trial' period of access.

Found the information that I read and researched extremely interesting and challenging in areas. Opened my eyes as to the many wonders of this world.

The course provided a clear concise account of Roman history. The internet links were most helpful and led to a wealth of information for further study.

What I needed was an overview and structure for future study over the entire period. The course fulfilled that need and more.

The course was pitched at the right level for what I wanted - meaning that it acted as a guide to further research and gave a good overall view of the history of Rome without bogging the reader down in excessive detail given the time constraints. It was extremely good value for money.

My daughter helped me and printed off the notes each week. Notes were excellent. they were all very interesting, easy to read and follow. As this was my first online course with my new laptop I did explore some of the websites with help. I found the U3A site very difficult to get around.

My initial difficulties with technology were quickly overcome by Tutor and Online Coordinator. Illness prevented me from group participation, but the format and content of the course I found brilliant and, with the links, particularly stimulating - I have enough material to see the winter through.

I thought that I knew quite a bit about The Romans but I was happily surprised by the course. I would like to thank Anthony for encouraging me to go that extra mile with my research, I enjoyed every assignment the more because of it.

A wonderful course that provides a full spectrum on the Romans impact on society then and now. My library is part of the area school, it was hard to obtain the books required, inter-library loans can be slow. Library staff are wonderful. However, there is the Internet, a great research tool.

I found the course immensely interesting. The topics were arranged in a logical order. The course notes contained enough information to start us thinking, and the questions posed challenged us to do our own research and form opinions. I am inspired to do further reading on the Romans.

The tutor’s feedback was very useful - he challenged my thinking, and used humour when I wandered outside the discipline of history into speculation. I enjoyed reading other students’ responses.

Found The Romans very interesting, the material sent me off in many directions. Read books related to the subject that I probably would not have approached in the past.

The course was just right. The Internet links were very helpful and the course leader was very helpful and understanding. The group discussion was interesting and I found the Discussion Board a useful way of interacting with the Course Leader.
