This course has assisted me to be well on the way to writing my life story. It has also assisted me to write in a more entertaining way which is a lot easier on the reader. Also learning how to use conversation to enhance the contact has helped. Jenny has been very helpful and constructive,
Prior to this course I did Peter Reedman’s Writing Family History which also helped. Each course in the writing area seems to build on the other in some way. Over all both courses very helpful.

The course is helping me write my life story for my family. Because of health and age problems, I don\\'t go out much and am finding the course is filling in a lot of time for me. Also making me think which is good. I am finding it very helpful and interesting.

Just a final word to say how much I enjoyed doing this course: beautifully written, fun to do and very informative; it really stretched your imagination and made you think deeply about things. More please?

I would recommend this course to any who may be considering doing this course as it helped me understand why I react or do certain things in a certain manner and helped me understand why others behave or react the way they do. It has given me an insight into the way we all are and just how the past has shaped our intelligence and our understanding of life and its many choices.

The course was undertaken U3A Clermont as a Group who meet monthly for stimulation and friendship - some of their comments below: I found the course stimulating. It created some interesting discussion amongst our small group and some surprises. I consider this course excellent in that balance was always maintained. It think it broadened all our minds and encouraged tolerance. We have some difficulty with technology - but persevere. Thank you to those who create these opportunities for those of us in isolation. Good oversight into the difference the development of science made to human thought, understanding and view of the world. An attempt now made to accept the problems of science as connected with Religion. I enjoyed being the group of ladies and sharing in the discussions. We were able to relax and take part and have input (viewpoints) without feeling uncomfortable. Good mixture of history, religion and science. Being a senior citizen helpful to keep mind working. It has made me more determined to become a co-searcher for truth in the future. A stimulating, well-balanced course - very thought provoking.

I have recently finished The Making of the Modern Mind a wonderful course which I enjoyed very much and it was fun to do. The research that went into this course and its excellent presentation were very much appreciated. The course material was very informative and challenging, led me to areas of research which added to it all. These on-line courses give us the opportunity to extend our knowledge and keep our minds active. Thank you at U3A Online so much. I now look forward to my next Unit The History of Science- the Emergence of Natural Philosophy.

This is the third course I have done in the past year. Alastair Pringle\\'s course on Western Philosophy was done with him as course leader. This was a real challenge as I was constantly engaged with that Discussion Board and consequently derived so much more from it than I could have anticipated. The History of Science was a great follow up. I trust Leslie Dale is still in the process of completing his next course. I was so pleased to find such an interesting and stimulating course available to those of us who have been fortunate enough to keep up with the technology. The presentation of these courses, to say nothing of the suggested readings and research options filled so much of my time. In completing this latest course - the Shaping of the Modern Mind - I have realised how well they have supplemented each other. I have had the added interest of sharing this last course with my sister - Helene Heathwood. Although she lives in Brisbane and I am in Bowral, our daily conversations on various topics we were covering were a continual source of wonder and delight. Please pass on my deep gratitude to all involved. Their efforts are being received by people such as us with great pleasure and gratitude.

Please forward this email to Dick Franklin, the author of the course, with our profound gratitude. We found the course content rich, stimulating, cohesive, and couched in a positive spirit of inquiry. The material was both accessible and challenging which is quite difficult to achieve, and the historic journey gave an excellent perspective to the overall course. We thought the course achieved its objective of showing how our way of thinking has changed over the centuries, and we found the reference very useful. There were about 12 of us in the class and the material provoked excellent discussions. One of the class members is in her eighties and had left school at an early age. She has a fascination with clocks which we were able to tap into to explain some of the concepts. Her mindset was shaken as we explored concepts of truth, religion, culture, etc but she stayed with us and, for me as facilitator, it was a very rewarding experience to watch her realize that these things were not set in concrete and meant different things to different people.

It is a wonderful course that provides insight into the history of the pursuit of "truth". There are excellent opportunities for self reflection and understanding and a bit of a challenge for the way forward which I relish.

I found the links offered in this section extremely informative and spent hours searching the information they provided. The one thing I found most useful was the detailed exercise routines (some animated), together with the daily/weekly/monthly record sheets. I also had fun completing the calorie counter and was shocked at some of the results and now know where to start trying to modify my diet. (Sodium three times above RDI.) My tip to anyone with chronic illness - make sure you have medical professionals who you gel with, if not ask for second opinions.

What I really enjoyed were the links to various internet sites to further learn about the subject matter. This has been a most interesting course worked through over a longer period than I anticipated due to family circumstances. Really appreciate it was a self paced course.

I loved every moment of this course. I learnt a lot about myself and that I was able to write stories. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. I think also that the humour and relationship with the Tutor and the other students made it so enjoyable it is fun.
