For me the course corrected a couple of my thoughts, but generally, it was encouraging that I was on the right track with my research. Of necessity, my research time is sporadic so I tend to lose track of things. The course was good refreshment.

This course has taken ages to complete because of family and business demands. However it has helped me in my 33 year long quest for my tribe. While much of the course was easy for an old stager like me, it is, and will be excellent for those in their formative family search years. For a subject that is basically about dead people, the dynamics of information sources change with breathtaking speed. At a recent Genealogy Expo I attended, 3 significant sources of data changed dramatically during the 2 day event. Happy Trails.

I am passionate about food and I am familiar with a variety of cuisines. The course gave me a better understanding about how food has evolved. I have a multicultural way of life and knowing the history of food enriches my experience of it.

The content was very clearly laid out, easy to find for each section and informative. Some I knew, however the historical backgrounds I did not know in the lesser topics eg chocolate, vinegar were excellent. Having never done such a course before I felt somewhat out of my depth at first getting onto the course I managed it and after that, it was plain sailing. On a personal note, please thank all those who were involved in the organising, running of it and the technical side at your end. Well done. I am full of admiration. I look forward to joining another course in the near future.

The fields covered greatly enlightened my understanding of the written language ‘English’. The easy step by step instructions and helpful links made it both instructive and enjoyable. On to the next project, Writing for Pleasure.

The course made me realize that I remebered more about English Grammar than I thought. It is sixty-four years since I did any formal study of this subject. However, I found that my basic use of English was, on the whole, correct. I intend to use this course as one step in my goal to record the details of my fifty-six years association with the aviation industry.

I had Basis grammar drilled into me at school 50 years ago.I wanted to revise all those. forgotten details of our language. This is exactly what I was looking for and was able to absorb the context quickly. The school children of today would have a lot of difficulty doing this course as it is no longer considered important in Education today. I showed it to my sister who teaches English. The better students know when text is incorrect English but don\\'t know why.

I learned correct spelling and word order in English sentence, these were the most important for me. I found all seven units very helpful. I live alone in a nice little house with small garden and I enjoy spending time over there. I have nice neighbours and we talk often to each other. My son comes to visit me onece a week and I go to the Hungarian Club every Friday. I spent a lot of time with my computer since I did this course so I don\\'t feel isolated and beside all this happenings, I read as well.

I really enjoyed the course. The lecture notes covered the development of English over a long time span, and also across many colonial and other countries. There were good links to websites for further exploration of topics of interest. Peter’s comments on my responses were always encouraging.

I was disappointed that I was the only student doing the course - having other students involved in discussion would have been great. I am not at all socially isolated, however I have a medical condition which is exacerbated by cold weather, so on-learning learning at home is a great winter activity.

I found the course really interesting. I had studied Latin and Phonetics at High School long ago and I can speak New Guinea Pidgin so I found the course easy reading. It was great to read how the language evolved, adapted and is still changing. It was also a good revision for me of grammar, and Syntax.

It was an excellent and enlightening course. I found it readable, understandable and enjoyed the fact that Peter Rose was so quick in his responses to Discussion Board comments.
