Visiting Artists in Rome

Organisation:
Third Age Trust
Description:

Spanning the period from the late 13th until late in the 17th century, this course covers the artists who were summoned by Popes and Cardinals or drawn to Rome, to decorate and glorify her buildings and public places. The artists brought their talents and skills in mosaics, fresco, tempera and oils, marble and travertine, and in designing buildings and monuments, that we can admire today.

As well as Rome's history in this period, the course also aims to reveal the motives of the patrons of the works.

This course is written by online course author 'veteran', Audrey Loraine.
