What Others Say

Comments

Wow, what an eye opener this course was. It helped me understand myself and those around me so much better. I would recommend this course to anybody who feels sad, lonely or just a little confused with their place in the world. To all those involved in producing this course; thank you.

I enjoyed very much each unit of this course. It jogged my memory of studying history in high school, concerning the dynasties and the lead up to the cultural revolution. Also, made things clearer as to China’s position today, politically & economically. I did not participate in the forums available or contact the course Tutor during this study, however that’s not to say I will not do this in future courses.

I set myself realistic achievable goals for this course and therefore finished it in more reasonable time. I also downloaded and printed off each unit which I found made it much more useful for me as I worked my way through each exercise on paper rather than on the screen. I really enjoyed each unit and gained a great deal of useful information which I have put into practice – I am entering the CWA literature competition again this year, with much more confidence and really enjoying the challenge.

I had already started doing my family history on a big ancestry website. This course showed me that what I was doing was right, as well as giving me tips and pointers to other lines of enquiry. So it gave me confidence to continue. Now I know where to look to go further, to record research, contacts, and how to publish what I've got so other family members can see their family history as well. This is the 3rd U3a online course I've done, and have signed up for 2 more. Great value, and just the right level for a reasonably educated person, who wants to learn online.

This was the MOST enjoyable course I have ever undertaken with U3A online (my 3rd course with a Leader). The interaction between students was great and the support and encouragement from Mardi the Leader was appreciated and really valuable, as was the input from everyone supporting each other – a lovely bond was formed and it encouraged us all to continue each week with our writing, I am sad that the course has ended

One had to undertake an awful lot of reading in a week, even at an introductory level, to undertake a unit activity and make posts to the General Forum. I thought I might do better if I had two weeks for each unit. I was most impressed with the tutor’s introduction to the units, his thoughtful attention to, and comments made on the posts; and the encouragement he gave. The course has been most worthwhile and I shall miss it.

I found this course an excellent introduction to philosophy. The design of the course encouraged one not only to read, but to think. The activities, particularly contributing to the General Forum, ensured that one became deeply involved in the course.

I like to hear of other people who are doing the course and through it have made e-mail contact with people all over the world. This helps to keep me busy.

I thoroughly enjoy being part of an on-line group sharing a similar interest. It is especially good when participants keep in contact after the course is finished.

I have found the three courses that I have untaken to be very rewarding. The information has been presented beautifully. Congratulations to all those who worked so had behind the scenes. As a novice computer operator I have found access technically friendly. A huge plus. The content of courses has been excellent and the tutors very approachable.

I missed people who did not respond for a couple of weeks, and when they returned with explanations about where they had been or what had happened to them, it was like greeting old friends again.

I enjoy the feeling of learning and being a part of a group. It's like meeting old friends when familiar names crop up in other courses. The discussion forum is interesting even though comments do not always respond to the points others have made. I am really enjoying ongoing contact with one participant.

When I eventually retired I discovered U3A Online which seemed an excellent way of keeping the mind active. I have found it is a lot more. Each unit I have undertaken has pointed me in so many different directions with their links to related URLs. They have also brought me into virtual contact with a whole range of different people so that I now have contacts across the globe and literally in my own suburb.

I have made contact with some great people in other parts of Australia, people I would never have met had I not been online. Knowing that there are others out there who are interested in learning about the same subject as myself and sharing information is great. The subject matter in each course that I have participated in has been fascinating, as have the different websites that we have been recommended to use.

Nowadays, living alone and physically limited, I was being stupefied by knitting, crochet, patchwork, computer puzzles and occasional bus trips. There is a limit.
